Understanding Insights

Your analytics dashboard: review volume, rating trends, response-time performance, and how to drill down into the reviews behind the numbers.

Written by Yaron Fanger

Insights turns your reviews into numbers you can steer by. Instead of reading every review to sense how things are going, you get the trend at a glance — per location or across your whole group — and you can always click through to the actual reviews behind a number.

Open insights

To get an overview of your reports, click Reports (1). From here, choose the time period (2) and the locations (3) you want to view.

Drill into a keyword

For a closer look at an insight and its keywords, click the individual bubble (1) to see more in-depth information. Close the window (2) to return to the overview.

The key numbers (KPIs)

At the top of Insights you'll find your headline metrics for the selected time range, each compared with the previous period so you can see if you're trending up or down:

  • Total reviews — how many reviews came in.

  • Positive share — the percentage of reviews that were positive.

  • Response-time target met — the percentage of reviews answered within your reply-speed target.

  • Average rating — your mean star rating for the period.

Reviews over time

The main chart shows review volume over time. Depending on the range you pick, it groups by day, week, month, quarter, or year. Hover over a bar to see the star breakdown inside that period — useful for spotting, say, a bad week hiding inside a good month.

Rating distribution

The distribution view breaks your reviews down by star rating (5★ to 1★), so you can see the shape of your feedback — a wall of 5★ with a stubborn group of 2★, for example, tells a very different story than a uniform spread.

Choose your time range

Use the time-range picker to switch between the last 7 days, last 30 days, last 12 months, all time, or a custom date range. All KPIs and charts update together, and comparisons always run against the equivalent previous period.

From number to reviews: drill down

Numbers are starting points, not conclusions. Click into a metric or a period and ThreadWork takes you to the Inbox filtered to exactly those reviews — so "why did March dip?" is answered by reading the actual March reviews, two clicks later.

Unreplied reviews

Insights also shows how many reviews are still waiting for a reply, so you can spot a backlog before it becomes one. Jump straight to them via the unreplied filter in the Inbox.
